The organization was operating a large and established workload automation environment supporting critical IT and business processes. As part of its automation transformation strategy, it decided to move from the existing WLA platform to Redwood RunMyJobs.
The scale and complexity of the environment made the migration challenging. Workloads had evolved over time and included interconnected jobs, workflows, schedules, dependencies, scripts and platform-specific configurations that could not simply be recreated manually in the target platform.
The organization also had limited internal experience with RMJ and had not previously undertaken a workload automation migration of this scale. A traditional manual migration would have introduced significant effort and risk.
The key requirement was therefore to understand the existing automation estate, establish the right RMJ target model, migrate accurately at scale, validate the resulting environment and transition production workloads without downtime.

In-house migration automation capabilities were used to accelerate conversion and implementation of workload automation objects in Redwood RunMyJobs. Jobs, scripts, workflow structures, schedules and relevant configurations were processed through a repeatable migration approach.
Automated Testing & Validation
Validation was built into the migration lifecycle. Automated testing and validation capabilities were used to confirm that workload definitions and configurations had migrated correctly and that workflows behaved as expected in RMJ.
Go-Live & Hypercare
Production transition was planned as part of the overall migration program. The migration went live without downtime, followed by hypercare focused on monitoring workloads, resolving issues and stabilizing operations in the new RMJ environment.
